The revolutionary solar windows don’t even need the sun to work

A new solar technology is on the market that is set to change the way we think about solar electricity. Carvey Ehren Maigue, a Mapua University Manila student, has created solar windows that do not need sunshine to function! These windows are built with a unique translucent coating that captures and transforms solar energy into electricity. They are not only more efficient than regular solar panels, but they also keep heat in, making them a great alternative for homes and businesses.

About the invention of the new solar window

Carvey Ehren Maigue, a Mapua University Manila student, was selected as the inaugural recipient of the James Dyson Award for Global Sustainability. This award is a global design competition accessible to engineers from more than 30 nations. With his revolutionary invention, AuREUS, the 27-year-old Filipino triumphed over over 1,800 submissions from other nations.

The award recognizes sustainability-focused inventions that have the potential to make a real difference in the world. Maigue’s AuREUS system harvests energy from ultraviolet light, using it to generate electricity or charge batteries. The system can be incorporated into a wide range of products, from window panels to smartphone cases. In recognition of his achievement, Maigue will receive $45,000 in prize money to help further develop his invention. With AuREUS, Maigue is helping to lead the way towards a more sustainable future.

What is the AuREUS?

AuREUS is a new renewable energy technology that is employed in constructing windows and walls. This system absorbs ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun and transforms it to energy. What distinguishes AuREUS from normal solar panels is that they work just as effectively when the material is not heated by the sun.

These solar windows are not just effective, they are also beautiful and colorful.

How did this new innovation of solar windows become a reality?

The solar window is made up of a resin substrate with fruit and vegetable-derived particles suspended in it. When the solar window is exposed to sunlight, the particles absorb and emit light along their edges. The light is then caught and transformed into power. The solar window is a promising new technology that can be used to generate electricity from renewable sources.
